My name is Robert Sale and I am a HVAC installer and independent app developer. This app was passionately made in an effort to improve the quality of my ductwork transitions when retrofitting. What started as a simple proof of concept idea slowly became this polished app which I would be using on a daily basis to build stunning and structurally accurate ductwork transitions. I’ve always wanted to become a software developer and since releasing this app I have, at the age of 28, decided it is time to go to college and further my education in software development and computer graphics.
An Android version of FieldFab is under development right now, but due to my intense work schedule as an HVAC installer (you know how it goes!) and all the school work I’m doing now, I am more focused on keeping the iOS app bug free.
If you are interested in learning programming I have made some of the key components of this app available as open-source libraries on GitHub under the MIT License (you can use, share, edit without permission!). Below is a list of the libraries and their source code.
- Vector Extensions (improving data types used for 3D graphics)
- Vector Protocol (A Protocol for rolling your own vector data types)
- String Fix (Helps make String data types in Swift more succinct and easy to use)
- SIMDExtensions (Swift API for very easy SIMD intrinsics)
FieldFab now has a community on Discord that current customers are welcome to join if they need any help with using the app.
